About iqueer

iqueer has started as a group of television and multimedia producers keen to exploit developments in high-speed internet access and digital production technology to distribute quality content to a smaller, more specialised gay audience than commercial television could ever hope (or dare) to support.

Our aim is to create a channel that screens locally-produced shows across a variety of genres and formats that will appeal to a gay Australian audience, without seeking to displace or compete with our favourite gay content from overseas. Content will be made available so that viewers can watch when and where they choose – on their television, their computers, or on the run on a mobile device.

But like any emerging medium that is seeking an audience, our hopes and aspirations are inevitably running ahead of our budget. iqueer will initially be run as a co-operative, where revenues from content sales, subscriptions, advertising and sponsorship are distributed in a way that not only to keeps production going, but repays the artists involved for their commitment as much as possible.

In this way, we aim to develop a specialist content channel that is commercially viable and that can sustain both a full range of content production and the artists that contribute to it.
